How the zodiac is organized
The tropical zodiac divides the ecliptic into twelve equal sections of thirty degrees. It begins with Aries at the March equinox. The signs share names with constellations, but these equal sections are not the uneven astronomical constellations themselves.
Find your Sun sign
Common date ranges are a convenient starting point. The Sun changes signs at a specific moment that varies from year to year. If you were born near a boundary, use your birth year, time and location to check the placement. Being born on a boundary does not give the Sun two simultaneous signs.
Elements and modalities
Fire includes Aries, Leo and Sagittarius; earth includes Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn. Gemini, Libra and Aquarius are air signs; Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces are water signs. Cardinal, fixed and mutable modalities add another distinction: initiating, sustaining and adapting. Signs of the same element can therefore have quite different rhythms.
Read beyond personality labels
A sign expresses differently depending on the planet occupying it. A Taurus Moon is interpreted through emotional steadiness, while Mercury in Taurus concerns thought and expression. A Sun-sign article offers a beginning, but the same paragraph cannot stand in for all placements in that sign.
From your zodiac sign to your horoscope
Choose a sign below for a guide to its daily horoscope, including relationship themes, work priorities and the difference between daily, weekly and monthly readings. Each guide links directly to that sign’s current daily forecast on Venus Tarot. Check the date at the destination; these explanatory guides do not change with the sky each day.
Our guides use Western tropical astrology as a symbolic tradition for reflection. They do not establish scientific personality categories or guaranteed predictions.
